2014年ワールドカップ、ブラジル大会の開幕が近づいてきた。

今大会の最大の関心事は、ブラジルが地元開催の大会で優勝を飾れるか、ということ。

5度の優勝経験を誇るブラジルだが、地元開催となった1950年大会では、決勝戦でウルグアイに敗れている。

再び訪れた今大会では、ブラジルチームにとっては優勝が至上命令になっている。

前回、南アフリカ大会で初優勝を飾ったスペインは、現在もFIFAランキングではトップを維持しており、連覇の可能性は残されている。

わが日本は、前回大会では、大会前の予想を覆し、誰もが予想しない決勝トーナメントへの進出を果たした。

その後、本田、香川、長友らが海外の有名クラブで活躍し、監督にもイタリア人のザッケローニが就任したことから、今大会でも決勝トーナメントへの進出が期待されている。
